Umamaheshwar Hegde hails from Sirsi. Even though his village is unreachable, he has made great achievements which are appreciable.

With the interest of plants, in his small land he planted and protecting diverse plants like Mango, pickle Mango (Appe), Jack (bakke), Kokum Pomelo, Pepper. Along with horticultural crops as a hobby he also domesticated many rare wild flowering plants. However, he has large collection of beautiful Hibiscus plants. Hence he is felicitated by Indian Institute of Horticultural Research Bangalore for his great contribution in saving wild genetic resources in 2014.

With his experience in great grafting technique, FORGA introduced him to public to spread his patent grafting technique and acting as mediator between him and customers to trade his nursery plants.
